When a member of our team went looking for a cane for her grandmother, the instinct was to grab a $20 aluminum one from the pharmacy. Problem solved, right? That was before we saw what a cane could actually be.

One honest note
Custom canes start around $200 versus $20–30 at the drugstore — a real jump. The case for it is longevity (hardwood built to last years, not months) and daily comfort. But if you need a short-term or purely functional aid, the drugstore version does the basic job. This is for when the cane is part of daily life and you want it to be good.
The verdict
